FCI designed and installed a perimeter flood defense at a St Louis facility, using permanent 5ft high stop log barriers over a half-mile perimeter.
These barriers remain in place, except at access points which can be quickly sealed during floods. The installation caused no operational disruptions.
Due to uncertain slab conditions, anchor pull-out tests and ‘push over’ tests on each post, simulating 1.5 times the maximum water load, were performed to approve the system.
Flood Control International recently oversaw the install of one of its innovative sliding floodgates in Los Angeles California. The floodgate protects the entrance to a major water treatment plant and is 28ft wide and 5ft high. These gates are ideal for vehicle accesses as the groundbeam is level. Gate operation using a winch to open / close takes one person 2 minutes.
The gate was tested to full height and passed easily with only 4% of the allowable leakage!
FCI Recently supplied 14 swing floodgates for La Guardia Airport’s new Delta Airlines-Terminal. These 6ft wide 8ft high gates are able to be fully submerged to a 13ft flood depth, and yet have no sill at ground level – making them the ideal choice for ease of operations around the airport. The floodgates have just been water tested to prove their effectiveness. Leakage was under one gallon over the hour-long test, with the water level on the outside held well over the top of the gate.
